The Virtual Assistant Connection: How to be a Part-Time Virtual Assistant

Although I’ve always worked full-time as a Virtual Assistant, for many, the ability to work part-time is a big draw.

In many ways, being at your desk all day can be easier, because when your clients are working, you are too. But with some forethought, you can successfully be a part-time VA.

Here are three things to consider when working as a Virtual Assistant part-time:

  1. The Type of Work. Some types of work are better suited to a part-time schedule than others. If you’re working in the evenings, make sure the projects and tasks you take on don’t have a component that will need your attention during the day or that are extremely time-sensitive.

  2. The Expectations. When interviewing potential clients, always be upfront about your hours and your availability. Let your clients know what type of turnaround they can expect.

  3. The Schedule. As VA’s, we have the ability to set our own schedules. But that doesn’t mean we can change that schedule whenever we feel like it. Determine what works best for you and try to keep it as consistent as possible!

Part-time work as a VA is entirely feasible. Just make sure you have planned things out and communicated to clients and others along the way!
