The Virtual Assistant Connection: Use LinkedIn to Get Clients

As a Virtual Assistant, you can use LinkedIn to stay in touch with existing relationships and make new ones, all leading to additional clients. I don’t recommend using it to “cold call,” however. It’s about staying in touch with those you already know.

Here’s how I use LinkedIn in my Virtual Assistant business:

  1. Connect with all the people you know. Search for your friends and past co-workers to get started. Once you have a few connections, LinkedIn will start suggesting people you might know based on connections that you have in common. By doing this, when you post, they’ll see you in their LinkedIn feed.

  2. Post Consistently. If you’re creating content in your business, such as an email newsletter or blog, LinkedIn is a great place to use that to get noticed. You can either point to your articles on your website with a link back to them, or you can publish an article right on LinkedIn. Be sure to use hashtags and include a few sentences for context when you post and include an eye-catching photo.

If you’re not creating content yourself, post links to articles that you find interesting from other sources, like online magazines, websites and blogs.

  3. Interact and socialize. When someone you know, publishes an article or shares news about their business, take time to comment, like and interact with them. And by all means, turn on your notifications so that you’re alerted via email when someone comments on your post, so you can respond the same day.

By staying visible on LinkedIn, your connections will naturally think of you when they need assistance in their own business, or hear of someone who does. It’s not usually immediate, but it can certainly be a great part of your strategy for getting great clients.
