The Virtual Assistant Connection: Stick to Business

When talking to your clients, part of your role is to be upbeat and positive. Along the way, of course, they may ask you how you are or inquire about your weekend as the conversation gets started. That’s just common courtesy.

But it’s important to understand that this is not an invitation to launch into a story about your life, your health, your mother-in-law, or whatever else is on your mind. Keep your replies short and sweet and stick to business.

If you do have some clients who are also friends (I have many), schedule a separate time to catch up about your personal life.

Remember, these are busy people coming to you for help and they too, are in the middle of their workday (and they are paying for your time).
