The VA Connection: Start Right Here!

When you’re just starting out as a Virtual Assistant, it can be difficult to know what to do first.

You might wonder: Should I work on my website? My social media accounts? Get my business license? Order business cards? Or a gazillion other things that are flying around in your head.

I understand why it’s so confusing, because all of those things are important, and we only have so much time in a day. So where do we start?

If you’re ready to start the flow of revenue right now, here’s what I suggest:

  1. Tell everyone you know about your business. I mean everyone. Past bosses, neighbors, the parents at the school bus stop, people you meet at weddings. You can announce your business via social media, too, but the most effective way to get the word out is in person, via email, or on the phone/Zoom. The more personal the conversation, the better the results.
     
  2. Don’t prospect. It’s impossible to figure out who’s going to hire you, or who knows someone who’s going to hire you, so don’t waste brain cycles on this. I could easily tell you 25 stories about the unlikely places my clients have come from. Keep an open mind about this.
     
  3. No cold calling. Please don’t walk around your town talking to business owners that you don’t know, handing out flyers or putting your business card on the bulletin board at the diner. It’s not going to move the needle. Build upon your existing relationships.

If you’re ready to start earning money now, don’t let things like not having a website stop you from getting started.

Remember that you are a solution to someone else’s problem and they’re ready to start working with you NOW!
