The VA Connection: How I Start Every Single Day

Every day I get up, and I decide what kind of day I'm going to have.

I look at what's on the schedule, think about who I'll spend time with, when I'll exercise, what I'm looking forward to, and I decide ahead of time how I want to feel.

By being deliberate and not leaving my feelings up to chance, I don't get pulled through the day's events as if I have no choice. I watch my language. I turn my "shoulds" into "want-tos." I adjust my "have-tos" to "get-tos" and find purpose in my decision to have those events in my day.

This allows me to choose happiness and satisfaction instead of waiting to see what happens.

I didn't always live this way.

In 2010, I was 50 years old, going through a divorce, buried in debt, and couldn't find a job. It seemed like I didn't get to decide anything. Life was deciding for me.

Then I started my VA business from my dining room table. No website. No logo. Just skills and the courage to say, "I can help you with that."

Over the next 10 years, I made over $100,000 a year. I met Greg. We got married. We bought a farm in Virginia. We planted an orchard. We got chickens.

And now I wake up every morning and decide how I want my day to feel.

Here's what I want you to think about:

Look ahead to the next 24, 48, or 72 hours.

Are you filling your time with things you chose? Or things someone else decided for you?

Are you spending your days the way you want? Or waiting for permission to start living?

Time is the one thing you can't get back.

Every day you spend in a job that drains you, working for people who don't value you, waiting for things to change, that's a day you don't get again.

If you're ready to build a life where you get to choose, your time, your clients, your schedule, your days, it starts with choosing how you feel.
