I was Just Starting Out Too
August 17, 2026
I was at a conference this week.
People came up to me and asked how I built my community. How I got started.
And then, before I could finish answering, they told me why it wouldn't work for them.
"I don't have a following like you do."
"I don't know where to find my people."
"I'm just starting out."
Here's what they're missing: at some point, I was just starting out too.
I didn't have a following. I had a Facebook group with a hundred members. Mostly friends and family. No course. No conference. No 63,000 people in 47 countries.
But I got to work and I built it.
It's easier to argue for your limitations than to test them.
If you decide ahead of time it won't work, you don't have to try.
But here's what happens: argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they're yours.
You prove yourself right. You never start. You stay stuck.
What would happen if you stopped arguing for why it won't work?
You just might be amazed.

I Went Anyway
August 10, 2026
What if you’re not ready… but you go anyway?
In 2019, I traveled 1,580 miles to attend an industry conference for Virtual Assistants because I had an idea. I wanted to teach VAs how to have successful businesses. I didn’t have a course, or a program. Just an idea.
I was scared it was a waste of money. I went anyway.
And that decision changed everything.
Sometimes, the next step to create a successful business isn’t waiting until you feel ready or even until you’re making money. It’s investing in yourself, showing up, and seeing what becomes possible.
The next opportunity could be waiting for you at The VA Connection LIVE.

Hiding doesn't Always Look Like Hiding
August 3, 2026
Hiding doesn't always look like hiding.
Sometimes hiding looks like productivity.
You're researching. You're learning. You're working on your website. You're taking another course. You're getting ready to get ready.
From the outside, it looks like you're doing the work.
But you know the truth.
You're not telling anyone about your business.
You're not writing the newsletter. You're not posting. You're not saying out loud, "I'm a Virtual Assistant and I help people with X."
You're staying busy with the stuff that feels safe. And avoiding the stuff that might actually get you clients.
I did this too.
When I started my VA business, I thought if I just got good enough, clients would find me. I thought the work would speak for itself.
Nobody was paying attention. Not because I wasn't good enough. Because they didn't know what I was up to.
The work that gets you clients isn't the work you do in private.
It's the work you do in public.
The clients come after you stop hiding. Not before.

I Stopped Leading With This
July 27, 2026
I used to think people wouldn't like me unless I had problems like them.
I believed that struggling made me a better friend. More human. More real.
So when someone asked how I was, I led with what was wrong. I'd meet a friend for coffee, and we'd trade struggles, drama. We'd nod and sigh and say "I know, right?" and it felt like connection.
But it wasn't connection. It was commiseration.
And all that focus on what was wrong was keeping it wrong. I thought I was processing. I thought I was problem-solving.
But I was just spinning. Running the same stories over and over in my head. Rehearsing my struggles. Staying stuck.
Then something shifted.
I stopped leading with what was wrong. I stopped ruminating. I stopped bonding over struggles.
And I started leading with what was right.
When I stopped focusing on the problems, I could finally see past them.
The path to the life I wanted had been there the whole time. I just couldn't see it through all the noise.
Your attention is a resource. Where you put it matters.
You can spend your energy rehearsing what's wrong. Or you can spend it building what you actually want.
