I had no idea how I was going to get out of this mess and how I was going to raise my daughter alone.

Emily took the bus to school back then, and I told one of the dads waiting with their kids that I was looking for admin work.
Little did I know that he was just starting a new company...and he hired me himself! Although the work wasn’t virtual, I could walk from home to his office.
I met my second client at a wedding reception. We chatted for a few minutes, I told him that I was doing admin work and the next day I connected with him on LinkedIn. A few weeks later he hired me... and then I started to really feel like I was in business!
From there, the clients kept coming (mostly through referrals).
By the end of my second year in business I had plenty of clients
and was making over $100,000 a year.
And I continued to grow my business every single year for 10 years…
My life looks very different than it did 15 years ago...
My business, RocketGirl Solutions, took off. I spent over a decade working with clients I love, doing work that lights me up.
Most importantly, I got to be the mom I always dreamed of being—raising my daughter, Emily, and soaking up every precious moment before she headed off to college.
I hit the reset button on my life, got back on my feet, and found my way forward.
And along the way, I met the love of my life. We got married and recently moved to Virginia, fulfilling a long-time dream of owning a farmhouse in the country.
Now, my days are filled with family, adventure, and deep purpose.
We’ve got 25 backyard chickens (who I adore!), we’re planting a garden, and every morning, I wake up feeling more at home than ever before.
