I'm Belinda Wasser, also known as RocketGirl and today we're going to talk about showcasing your "special sauce."

Let's talk about what your "secret sauce" is. When a potential client visits your website, which they will, they're going to poke around and when they do, you want to make sure that everything is how it should be. I know one time several months ago, I was hiring a virtual assistant and she connected with me on LinkedIn, which was great, and so I decided to go to her website. What I found when I was clicking around was that she had broken links. Some of her images were missing. And while you could argue that if that's true, that doesn't necessarily reflect on her ability to support her clients, it does show that she's not taking care of her own business. And for me, that's really a red flag.

Let me give you some suggestions about how to handle this. All right, I'm going to give you four examples. If you're a graphic artist, it's critical that you make sure that your branding is beautiful, because that's your product and even if you're not graphic artists and you are a virtual assistant or you... I shouldn't say graphic artist, a virtual assistant who does graphic artists work, it's important that you find someone to help you with yours because your website is really a display case.

If you're doing email newsletters for clients, the best way you can show them how fabulous you are is to do one yourself. When I started my business nine years ago, I started an email newsletter two weeks later, I'm still publishing it today and it is absolutely a great way to not only show clients your work, show them that you have this as a product and also that you know how to do it and that you can do a great job. I know during this, when times get slow, the thing that is consistent for me is email newsletters, I have probably 25 clients that I provide them for and it's a very steady, nice stream of work. I know a lot of it's because they see mine and they say, "Can you do that for me?" And I say, "Sure." and I walk them through it.

Whatever it is that you want to provide for your clients, the more that you can, again, showcase them on your own website. So let me give you some examples from my RocketGirl website. One is I use Acuity Scheduler and a lot prospective clients and existing clients use Acuity to arrange their first meeting with me. Now the thing about that that's so great is, probably as a result of that, working on my own business set up Acuity for 15 people. That's a nice little stream of revenue. Same thing with taking credit card payments, the way that my clients buy my time is using a credit card. I set up the whole integration with Stripe and Gravity Forms and the thank you emails and all that. Once they do that a few times, a lot of them will think, I'd like to take credit cards too. And they asked me, "Did you set that up?" And I say, "I did. Would you like me to help you with that as well?" Again, this is how you can show your secret sauce.

One more example is, if you're offering social media, make sure you're out on social media. That's again also happened to me. I handle a lot of social media for my clients. I don't write the content, but I execute on it. I use tools like Meet Edgar and Buffer and Hootsuite to help them with that social media presence. Again, they see me on all of those platforms, on LinkedIn, Facebook, and they know that I know how to execute because they're watching me do it all the time. So really great tip.

Okay, let's see. I want to tell you a couple of things real quick. Here's Ilene Aster, she's fabulous. Hello Ilene, thank you for coming. I want to tell you about a couple of things. One is my free online classroom called The VA Connection. It's on Facebook, you can just search for "The Virtual Assistant Connection" in the search bar at the top of Facebook. The other thing, when you join us, we're having an accountability challenge that's kicking off on Friday and it is going to be a lot of fun. Four weeks of getting stuff done, cheering each other on. We're going to earn points. We're going to blow the month away, and there are prizes, lots of fun prizes.

I hope you'll go over to The Virtual Assistant Connection Facebook group. There are VA's there that have been in business for a long time like me and people who are just thinking about it. It's a very diverse group, wonderful community. We have over 2,600 members and we'd love to have you too, so check that out.

Thank you for coming. I'm Belinda Wasser, RocketGirl, signing off until next time. Bye-bye.
